  3. Take shorter showers (five minutes or less);
    Get a free shower timer at your local Seattle Neighborhood Service Center or your Local Water Provider office (for customers outside of Seattle).
*Must be a water customer of Seattle Public Utilities or utilities in the Saving Water Partnership to qualify.
This program is brought to you by Seattle Public Utilities, Seattle City Light, the Saving Water Partnership, Bartell Drugs and the Home Depot.
How do I check for leaks?
Take the lid off your toilet’s tank, drop in seven to eight drops of food coloring (red, blue, green), replace the lid (DO NOT FLUSH AFTER ADDING THE COLOR), and wait 10-15 minutes. If you see the coloring in the toilet bowl, you have a leaky flapper, which can waste hundreds of gallons of water. Replace your flapper immediately. Learn more >
Tip
Washing full loads of laundry can save up to 2,000 gallons of water a year – and save time with fewer loads!
