Businesses can significantly reduce their water bills by replacing old toilets (installed before 1994) with models that use fewer gallons per flush. Water providers in the Saving Water Partnership offer incentives to help businesses make the switch.

Tank Toilets
Starting January 1, 2011 businesses that replace all tank toilets will qualify for a $100 rebate per WaterSense labeled toilet. WaterSense is a new EPA water efficiency branding program that identifies products with high efficiency performance and reliability. Each new fixture must be WaterSense labeled..

Flush Valve Toilets and Urinals
Rebates of $100 to $150 per fixture are available for replacing older flush valve toilets and urinals with newer water-efficient models.
- Replacing 3.5 fixtures with 1.6 GPF fixtures qualifies for $100 per fixture.
- Replacing 3.5 fixtures with 1.28 GPF High Efficiency Fixtures (HET) qualifies for $125 per fixture.
In the case of replacing older urinals, only replacement urinals flushing at 0.5 gallons or less will be eligible for a rebate, now increased to $150.

Steps to Receive Cash Incentives

Verify that your water provider belongs to the Saving Water Partnership.
- If you need more information or technical assistance, contact WSTP manager Philip Paschke, (206) 684-5883.
- Complete and send the Commercial Toilet Rebate Application (pdf).
- Schedule a site visit, if necessary.
- After you receive pre-approval, move ahead with your project. If replacing tank toilets, buy and install eligible WaterSense labeled models.
